A set of bent wood chairs by Josef Hoffmann (1870-1956) for Thonet circa 1928. Hoffmann was part of the Vienna Secessionist movement and later founded the Wiener Werkstätte, a “productive cooperative of artisans” aimed at reviving quality craftsmanship and public interest in design. The cooperative included artists, architects and designers who worked in many areas: ceramics, fashion, graphic arts and furniture. That movement would prove to be a strong influencing force on the later important movements of Bauhaus and Art Deco. These chairs have been sensitively restored and maintain their character. Four available.
