Raoul Lachenal, son of famed French ceramicist Edmond Lachenal, established his own ceramic studio outside of Paris in 1911, where, for the most part, he produced serially cast earthenware. On a much smaller scale, Lachenal created fine art pottery with a particular interest in unconventional glazing techniques. This small bud vase belongs to that latter category of work, showing a precise patterning of sandstone-based polychrome glazes in black and ivory craqueleur. His fine art ceramic works are each unique and representative of the Art Deco style along with influences from the Far East. Signed.
